The Bella Vista Village Property Owners Association wants to help its members on Medicare reduce their prescription drug costs.
Medicare beneficiaries – with a limited income and limited resources – are eligible for the extra help. The assistance can increase their cost savings by paying for part of the monthly premiums, annual deductibles and prescription co-payments under the new prescription drug program. The savings could be as much as $ 3, 600 per year, a POA news release said.
The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 enacted on Dec. 8, 2003, requires the Social Security Administration to undertake a number of additional Medicare-related responsibilities. The Social Security Administration and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are working together to provide persons with limited income and resources extra help paying for their prescription drugs. Social Security’s role in this partnership is to help the public understand how they may qualify and apply.
Those interested in the program may determine if they qualify and apply online by visiting the Social Security Administration’s Website at www. socialsecurity. gov.
In addition, the POA has made brochures available at the Membership Services Department, Riordan Hall and Branchwood Recreation Center. The brochures include a postage-paid envelope and the steps necessary to request an application.
